Oil and natural gas are non-renewable primary energy sources. On land, long-distance transportation of such resources mainly relies on buried pipelines. Long-distance transmission pipelines feature high operating pressure and ultra-long conveying mileage. Any leakage of the transported medium will pose severe hidden safety hazards to the surrounding environment.
Accordingly, corrosion control and operational safety of buried pipelines stand as the top priority in the management of pipeline transportation enterprises. The combined anti-corrosion system integrating external coating and cathodic protection is universally recognized as the optimal anti-corrosion solution at present. Taking the promotion of cathodic protection technology as its responsibility and corrosion control services for various industries as its mission, Changyuan Changtong New Materials Co., Ltd. has widely popularized cathodic protection technologies across China.
Recently, Changyuan Changtong New Materials Co., Ltd. successfully organized a five-day professional skill training program on cathodic protection, aiming to upgrade the technical competence of industry practitioners and boost the in-depth application and advancement of cathodic protection technology. Hosted at the company’s Dongguan Base from January 19 to 23, this training attracted 46 participants from enterprises nationwide, including PipeChina Yunnan Branch, Foshan Gas, Shenzhen Gas, Guangdong Pipeline Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Zhigao Boshi Engineering Co., Ltd., and Changyuan Changtong New Materials Co., Ltd. After five days of intensive coursework and assessments, the training concluded successfully on January 23.
The training featured a comprehensive curriculum covering fundamental theories of cathodic protection, measurement technologies for cathodic protection systems, cathodic protection system design, interference and mitigation of AC & DC stray current corrosion, as well as practical application cases. Through systematic learning, participants not only gained an in-depth grasp of the basic principles and technical essentials of cathodic protection, but also mastered countermeasures for common on-site operational problems.
Mr. Feng Hongchen, Chairman of China Cathodic Protection Association and a leading expert in cathodic protection, was invited as the exclusive lecturer for this program. Endowed with profound theoretical knowledge and abundant on-site practical experience, he elaborated on core cathodic protection technologies and industry development trends in an easy-to-understand manner. Combined with real engineering cases, he thoroughly illustrated the application and practical implementation of cathodic protection for oil and gas pipeline preservation.
Throughout the training, the lecturer engaged in heated interactive discussions and in-depth exchanges with trainees, providing detailed answers and targeted guidance to all raised questions. Many participants commented that the training enabled them to build a more holistic and thorough understanding of cathodic protection technology, filling them with confidence and anticipation for their future career development.
